My Best Family Adventure Yet

Like many families, the chaos of 2020 changed life as planned. Rather than wallowing in what I felt like I had lost, I decided to embrace an overwhelming sense of gratitude for all the places over the years we have traveled.

When calling up travel moments one of my highlights comes from 2019, when I visited the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark with my family. It will forever be one of my best memories of an international adventure with my family.

Why?

Well my son loves LEGO. His passion for the brick inevitably rubbed off on my youngest daughter, (which to my delight gives them an area of bonding, considering they are three years apart.) In 2018, Netflix had a documentary about the building of the LEGO House. One Saturday afternoon in 2018, he watched it and was mesmerized. He paused it and innocently looked at me and said, “Mom can we go there someday?” I immediately blurted out, “Sure,” and then my mind raced to oh shoot, now I have to follow through!

With the savvy planning of me and my husband we not only followed through but seized something incredibly special for us and our children. The rooftop you see in the cover image and the day enjoyed exploring magnificent LEGO builds in Denmark will forever be one of my Best Mom Moments.

My lesson: Sometimes it is easy to treat the extraordinary like the mundane. Remember to celebrate your big moments as they are certainly a big deal.

Monique

Fruitfully,
